Careers: The AI jobs that are hiring in Morocco

Artificial intelligence is no longer a laboratory topic: in Morocco, banks, telecoms operators, industry and startups now build models into their products and operations. As a result, several specialised roles are hiring actively. Here is a tour of the profiles with a future and the skills that make the difference.

Data scientist

This is the best-known profile, and still very much in demand. The data scientist turns raw data into decisions: exploring, modelling and building predictive algorithms. In Morocco you find them in banking (scoring, fraud detection), insurance, e-commerce and large retail.

  • Key skills: statistics, Python, data handling, machine learning.
  • Essential quality: being able to translate a business need into a data problem.

Machine learning engineer

The ML engineer bridges the model and the product. Where the data scientist prototypes, the ML engineer industrialises: making models robust, fast and deployable at scale. This hybrid profile, between data science and software engineering, is increasingly sought after because companies want to move from experiment to production.

  • Key skills: solid programming, software architecture, model optimisation.
  • Essential quality: engineering rigour applied to machine learning.

MLOps engineer

MLOps applies DevOps principles to AI: automated deployment, monitoring models in production, version and data management. It is a fast-growing role, because an unmaintained model degrades over time. Companies that already have models in production are actively looking for these profiles.

  • Key skills: cloud, containers, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring.
  • Essential quality: thinking about the whole life cycle, not just one-off performance.

Data engineer

Without clean, accessible data no model works. The data engineer builds the pipelines that collect, clean and store data. It is often the most underestimated role and yet one of the most sought after, because everything else depends on it.

  • Key skills: databases, big data, pipeline engineering, cloud.
  • Essential quality: reliability and a sense of architecture.

Computer vision and NLP engineer

Some specialisations hire in specific sectors: computer vision for industry and quality control, natural language processing for customer service centres and conversational assistants. These profiles combine sharp technical expertise with a good understanding of the field of application.

What employers really expect

Beyond job titles, Moroccan recruiters value cross-cutting qualities:

  • A solid grounding in mathematics and programming, non-negotiable.
  • The ability to work on concrete projects and to show a portfolio.
  • Command of the cloud and of production tooling, not just notebooks.
  • An understanding of the company’s business, so as to produce models that are useful and not merely accurate.

How to prepare while still at school

AI is not learned in theory alone. You become employable by building real projects, from data collection through to deployment. At SUP2I, the computer engineering programme offers an Artificial Intelligence and Data Science option, with a strong project dimension through Sup’Factory. If these roles appeal to you, explore the programme and talk to our team about building your path.
